A newly developed sandwich cone consisting of a 3D hex honeycomb structure embedded in two layers of fiberglass fabric, it is elaborately manufactured. The HEX cone is high-strength, extremely lightweight, and excellently damped. Each individual HEX cone is additionally hand-coated with a specially developed coating. This additional layer dampens resonances on the cone surface and ensures the rich, contoured, and exceptionally precise sound of this premium sound system. The ribbed die-cast aluminum phase plug at the center of the HEX 165 is a true sound performance plus: Due to its special construction, it allows free cone movement, prevents interference in the vicinity of the cone, and supports the incredible imaging accuracy of the HEX 165. The finest details are perfectly separated – creating a transparency and, above all, a spatial depth that has rarely been seen and still exists.
